as a girl she could turn into a river
“as a girl she could turn into a river” is a photograph inspired by Inquiries, a book of poetry by Michelle Porter. This is also a part of a larger, on-going project on the rivers of Avalon Peninsula. Newfoundland’s spectacular seacoasts tend to steal the show with their crashing waves, imposing cliffs, and picturesque outports, and so its rivers are often overlooked. This ongoing series is a small way of reminding us how much beauty lies along the riverbanks of Avalon peninsula and the need to rediscover and renegotiate our relationship with this place we all call home.
The photograph is a 36in x 27in (91.5cm x 68.5cm) inkjet print on archival photographic paper in edition of 15 prints. One of the prints is in the Permanent Collection of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
