Small Islands

Small islands are one of the basic imaginative units in Western thought. For centuries, they have been (mis)used again and again as settings and symbols in literature, film, and television. And almost always they are there as a canvas for mainland imaginations.

These photographs were made over the past 10 years in Canada, Croatia, and Scotland and are my first steps in engaging with small islands as they are.
